GLP stands for Graduated Licensing Program.
Starting Oct.6.2003, rules for BC's learners and novice drivers and motorcycle riders have changed.
If you're in or about to enter the Graduated Licensing Program, here is the Information you'll need to get up to speed and on the new rules!
IMPORTANT: If you start a GLP-approved driver education course after March 31, 2007, you will no longer be eligible for a three-month reduction to the waiting period before your first road test. However, you will be eligible for a six-month reduction in the Novice stage, if you meet certain requirements. NOTE: The content of paragraphs below are taken from ICBC page.
Reducing your time in graduated licensing
An evaluation of B.C.'s Graduated Licensing Program shows that keeping new drivers in the supervised Learner stage for a full 12 months helps achieve the program's maximum road safety benefits.
After March 31, it will still be possible to reduce some of the time you spend in graduated licensing. You may be eligible for new, a six-month reduction in the Novice stage of GLP.
Drive is an acronym for the Demonstrating Responsibility in Vehicle Education program. A program that is unique to Nanaimo and has been quietly changing lives since March of this year.
Like many good ideas this one started with a Mom who wanted to do all she could to ensure her daughter's safety. It has grown from there into a program that is helping hundreds of new drivers to understand the risks and responsibilities of driving a car.
ZDA offers an ICBC approved GLP Course which is also recognized by the Ministry of Education and will earn you two credits towards your Grade 11 Highschool Diploma on successfull completion of the course.
