ZIGGY'S DRIVING ACADEMY was established 1988 in Toronto and is operating since 1991 in Nanaimo.
Ziggy is a strong believer in "humor gets you further"! So smile and learn from your mistakes! His teaching techniques will make you want to come back and learn more to meet your goal. Having taught about 3000 students in Nanaimo and surroundings he is very well known for his patience and professionalism.
Class 5/7 Car Instructors:
BILL is our Instructor with the most seniority. When Bill retired as a Bank Manager, he was not thinking of retirement at all, he wanted to follow his calling: teaching young people how to drive! He is as happy in his job as an Instructor today as he was when he started with us. Whether you are a teenager a senior or someone in between, you will love his style of teaching and his biiiig patience.
ANGELA not only teaches driving in the vehicle, she also teaches our GLP-Classroom Courses. The students just love her dynamic style and eagerly participate in the fun of learning. Her classes are never boring even if the topic is "Physics of Driving".
MAUREEN is a certified Driving Instructor with a Bachelor of Education and worked for ten years in the school system.She specialized in creating individual programs to suit the needs of her students and brings this expertise to Ziggy's to provide the tools students need to become safe and competent drivers.
 
Class 6/8 Motorcycle Instructors: DAVID, has been astride a motorcycle for more than 44 years now. In addition to teaching at Ziggys, he is a Senior Instructor for Police Motorycle riders, and a National Director of Rider Education for an international motorcycle organization. The only thing he loves more than riding itself, is passing along his skills to you, the new rider, so you too can have as much fun!

Karin is our friendly office coordinator. She handles all the lessons bookings, makes the road test appointments or cancellations etc. She is very busy, but never too busy to answer all the questions you may have concerning your driver training.
We, ZIGGY'S DRIVING ACADEMY and five other leading schools of Nanaimo are the founding members of CIDSA, the Central Island Driving School Association. With our combined knowledge and expertise in the driver education sector, we have developed one of the best "ICBC approved GLP Courses" available to you today. You will benefit from the knowledge of not just one-but five facilitators. In our courses we teach hands on training, a base knowledge of "under the hood", fact findings and fact reporting to other groups. Role play and group discussions are part of our program and highly enjoyed by the students.
Our ZDA driving instructors teach the In-Car Training including the techniques of Threshold Breaking (emergency braking without locking the wheels) Brake and Avoid (to escape rear end collisions) Stopping without regular brakes and start a stalled engine without stopping. DRIVING IS A PRIVILEGE - NOT A RIGHT.

Siegfried Hildebrandt the owner/operator of Ziggy's Driving Academy has been a professional driver/trainer for three decades. He has worked for many years as a "class one" fleet trainer and taught professional driving for the North Island College in Courtney and Port Alberni.
